Terms of Service

1. Who is responsible

CAREPOINT HEALTH TECHNOLOGIES COMPANY LIMITED (“CarePoint”), Nkwen, Bamenda, Cameroon, is the controller of personal data processed for PharmaGuide. Contact hello@carepoint.cm.

This policy covers the PharmaGuide website, the Android app, and the pharmacy portal. It sits alongside the Terms of Service.

2. If you are searching

You can search without an account. When you search, our server receives the medicine or pharmacy name you type, and the city or filters you choose.

If you allow location, the app sends your approximate position for that search so we can sort pharmacies by distance. We use it to answer that request. We do not build a history of where you have been.

Saved pharmacies and saved medicines, your language, and your theme stay on your phone. A pharmacy quick-access code that you scan is also stored on that phone so you can reopen it. Android cloud backup is turned off for the app, so that code is not copied to Google’s backup.

3. If you run a pharmacy

An account can include:

  • Your name, email address, and password.
  • The pharmacy’s name, address, city, and phone number.
  • Stock, prices, batch numbers, expiry dates, and opening hours.
  • A quick-access code used to update stock.

4. If you upload a prescription

The upload contains the image or file, your name, your phone number, an optional note, and the pharmacy you selected. This is health-related data. We treat it as such.

Only that pharmacy, and CarePoint staff who need it to run the service, can open it. We do not sell it, we do not use it for advertising, and we do not use it to train a model.

You should upload a prescription only if you are the patient, or the patient’s parent or legal guardian.

5. What we do not do

  • We do not sell personal data.
  • We do not use the Android advertising ID.
  • We do not require an account to search.
  • We do not require location. You can search by city instead.

6. Why we use the data

We use the data to provide the search, to show a pharmacy its own stock, to deliver a prescription to the pharmacy you chose, to keep accounts secure, and to fix faults.

The legal bases are: performing this service for you, our legitimate interest in keeping the service secure and the listings reliable, a legal duty when one applies, and your consent when you turn on location or choose a photo. You can withdraw location consent in the phone settings, and you can ask us to delete an upload.

7. Who else receives it

A pharmacy sees the listing data it submitted, and a prescription only when you selected that pharmacy.

Our hosting provider stores the service so it can run. A maps or phone app receives only what you send when you tap Maps or Call. We may also disclose data if Cameroonian law, a court, or a competent authority requires it.

Public pharmacy listings show the pharmacy’s name, area, phone number, hours, and the stock and prices that pharmacy chose to publish.

8. How long we keep it

  • A search request is kept only as part of short-lived server logs used for security, then deleted in the ordinary log cycle.
  • A pharmacy account and its listing are kept while the account is open. After closure we delete or anonymise them unless a legal duty requires a longer period.
  • A prescription upload is kept so the pharmacy can respond. We delete it when you ask, and in any case within 12 months after the request is closed, unless the law requires us to keep it.
  • Data that never leaves your phone is removed when you delete it or uninstall the app.

9. Where it is stored

The service is operated for users in Cameroon. The servers that store accounts, listings, and prescriptions may be in Cameroon or with a hosting provider in another country. When data leaves Cameroon, we use a provider that protects it under contract and we transfer it by encrypted connection.

10. Security

Traffic to our API uses HTTPS. Pharmacy portal access requires a login. Prescription files are stored on the server, not on a public page. No method of storage or transmission is perfectly secure.

You are responsible for your password and for any quick-access code. Tell us if either is exposed.

11. Your rights

Subject to Cameroon’s personal-data law, you may ask us for access to the personal data we hold about you, for a correction, for deletion, or for a limit on how we use it. You may also complain to the competent authority, the National Agency for Information and Communication Technologies (ANTIC).

Write to hello@carepoint.cm, or use the delete-your-data page at /data-deletion on this website. We may ask you to confirm that you are the person the data is about before we act. We will respond within the time the law requires.

12. Children

PharmaGuide is not directed at children who lack legal capacity. Do not upload a child’s prescription unless you are the parent or legal guardian. If you believe a child has sent us personal data without that authority, write to us and we will delete it.

13. Changes

If we change this policy, we will post the new version on this page and change the date at the top. A material change applies from the date shown.
